Fellowship of the Reads – Fantasy Book Club
Every great quest begins with the gathering of a fellowship.
If you’ve ever wandered through Middle-earth, explored enchanted forests, followed dragons into forgotten kingdoms, uncovered ancient magic, or simply love escaping into extraordinary worlds, we’d love to welcome you to Fellowship of the Reads, the Fantasy Book Club at Curious Owl Bookshop.
Each month, we gather to discuss our featured fantasy selection, share our thoughts, explore the worlds we’ve visited, and enjoy great conversation with fellow readers who love fantasy as much as you do.
There are no membership fees and no pressure. Simply read the month’s featured book and join us. Whether it’s your first fantasy novel or your hundredth, you’ll find a welcoming seat around the table.
This month’s featured book:
Nettle & Bone
by T. Kingfisher

Before Marra can save her sister, she must complete three impossible tasks: sew a cloak of nettles, build a dog of bone, and catch moonlight in a jar. What begins like a dark fairy tale soon becomes something sharper and stranger—a story about courage that does not look like destiny, found family that includes a demon-possessed chicken, and the quiet decision to stop accepting cruelty as the price of peace.
Hugo Award–winning and wickedly funny, Nettle & Bone mixes horror, heart, and wry humor as Marra gathers unlikely allies and walks straight toward a kingdom’s ugliest secret. Come ready to talk characters who refuse to stay in their assigned roles, the book’s twisted fairy-tale logic, and the ideas underneath the adventure: loyalty, agency, and what it costs to choose the harder mercy.
Copies of Nettle & Bone are available now at Curious Owl Bookshop — stop in, grab a copy, and read along with us before we meet on October 17.
